JOB TITLE: OPTICIAN

REPORTS TO: VISION OFFICE MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:

Maintain cordial and welcoming ambiance for all who enter PSHC. Assist customers in facial and eye measurements, frame styling, adjustments and repairs, while providing spectacle wear and care education. Ensure customer satisfaction with fit and vision of new corrective lenses.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Educating and assisting patients with their corrective lenses and spectacle frame options that appropriately fit their medical needs and personal preferences.
• Advise patients when adjustments or repairs to spectacles are necessary.
• Operate manual lensometer to accurately read various glasses prescriptions.
• Confirm all customer information is accurate and updated during optical sale transactions.
• Verify insurance, pull authorization and file insurance claims for vision hardware.
• Maintain a clean, organized and full inventory displayed appropriately by categories.

EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or GED equivalency
• American Board of Opticianry certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

• At least one year experience in optical.
• Demonstrate initiative and function independently.
• Demonstrate attention to detail.
• Must possess basic computer skills.
• Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend instructions in English.
